Each year we review suggestions from our team; researching and selecting charities that work in different areas to allow our contributions to benefit people’s lives in a number of ways.
For 2022/23, we selected the mental health charity, Mikeysline. The Inverness-based charity offers text-based support through SMS, webchat and social media, drop-in and one-to-one appointments at their Hives, and additional support for young people through their young person’s service.
It also recently opened a new centre in the Highland Yoga Collective in Nairn, bringing the total number of outreach centres it operates across the Highlands to four.
Together, we aim to increase awareness of mental health and emotional issues throughout the Highlands and the support available from Mikeysline to remind people that it is okay not to be okay and that no one should suffer in silence.
Emily Stokes, Mikeysline CEO adds: “We are absolutely delighted to be working in partnership with Norscot. Their support will help us to continue to support adults and young people who are in emotional distress or struggling with their mental health and help us to raise awareness of our services across Highland & Moray. This good news has come at a crucial time when many people are struggling and our services are needed more than ever so we are very grateful to Norscot.”
To kickstart the events for the year, ten members of Team Norscot are taking part in Teclan’s Million Steps for Mikeysline fundraising initiative.
Together with other Highland businesses, our team have pledged to donate £1 for every 10,000 steps walked.
However, it’s about more than just raising funds for Mikeysline (as great as that is!) – it’s well known that getting out and about walking in the fresh air really improves our physical and mental health.
